Coincidentally, 3 husbands of clients asked me for gift ideas for their wives for Mother’s Day. They all knew their wives had seen something for the home that they loved, but did not buy. This, of course, turned into me sending the men lists and links. So often, it is the mom of the house who buys for everyone else, but not for herself! I decided to share some of the items on these lists, as well as some other awesome Mother’s Day finds. Eighteen years ago, my own mother, bought me a Kosta Boda plate, she had seen me eyeing every time we set foot in the Bloomingdale’s home department. She gave it to me on Mother’s Day. I had given her the gift of her first grandchild, a boy, she had only daughters, and she wanted me to have something special to look at to remind myself how appreciated I was. She told me there would be plenty of days (and nights), when I would feel exhausted, overwhelmed and under appreciated. Mom told me to find the plate at those dark moments to remind myself that it was all worth it and how much my love meant to my children and to her. Now that my mom is gone, the plate has even more meaning. It is a reminder of her unconditional and unwavering love for me and her grandchildren.
Perhaps your mom would love to style her coffee table with an extra special backgammon set, trinket tray or agate coasters. What about a gold love pillow or cashmere blanket? Wouldn’t it be awesome to give your mom a planter with a growing plant? I love the idea of presenting a mom with a chrome bar cart. She can use it as a display center for all of the special gifts and decor items. I love flowers that last forever – especially when they seem as real as the real ones!
I hope these finds inspire you to find something special for your mom or the mother of your children! Click on any of the images for resources.
Regardless of what you give – or get, have a great Mother’s Day!
